I’ve been on blind dates. In fact a few of my favorite ‘ex’s’ were results of blind dates where we made excellent friends. Every time I’ve tried to meet people at the bar its backfired….the guy who thought I was another girl for example. So when you are filling in smaller idea’s on those 30 to 30 list and single what’s left? SPEED DATING.
That’s right your number one girl paid $35 dollars to date 13 men in roughly two hours which either sounds really right or hysterically wrong….. and I didn’t even get a ticket.
So Mikaela, Ashley and I signed up in an early bird special so it was cheaper. Ashley couldn’t make it but we had an awesome time. Mikeala and I had dinner and drinks first then headed down town. There was some disorganization but it was the woman’s first night on the job so it was understandable but annoying. All of the women sat at tables and the men rotated. We had 6-7 minutes to talk and impress each other before moving on. Only to mark our top 5 on a list to give back to her. It really was shopping in a sense.
I don’t know who all the women were but the men were amazingly diverse. A paramedic, property manager, and economist, a few in corporate sales, a cyber security person, and my favorite an architect among others. I mean really when do you find that much diversity in one place and you can interact with all of them?
Mikaela connected with the paramedic and he got her a rose, I got some numbers and hopefully if nothing else some friends. I don’t know that I would do it again. Maybe for a different price, or food, a free drink. I was disappointed by us getting nothing at all and it’s not the cheapest bar. And after parking at a meter that had a two hour limit we arrived back at the car almost two hours after it expired. We pulled out as the meter-maid arrived to issue tickets to those in that area. It really was a perfect evening.

The company assumes gender when you sign up based on name so I initially was a guy (Alexandra) but it was so quick and easy to correct. They responded promptly, corrected it, and get you in the system with number and email. They didn’t spam me or send me anything else. Which I appreciate but makes me worry I blocked them or something. They say within 24 hours you should see your list of matches. So we’ll see right? The location was great, they boast that you don’t know its happening (other people don’t) which may have been true until one of the girls had a guy come in and start talking to her (it was wrapping up). I hope she knew him but it didn’t seem as such. There was chaos in where to walk and what order, as result I missed one guy luckily I had the opportunity to meet him though a connection with another gentlemen. The best part was every single guy was a gentleman, all types of people, and honestly great individuals. I guess you have to be if you are spending that kind of money.
