Run, Run, Run

This is another one of the goals that has evolved and changed since its original conception. It started as RUN a 5k. I've done multiple 5K's in the past from digital to fun, Warrior Dash and Inflatable to Color and different charity runs. All of these are more 5K walks going at what was a fast pace but to mostly a leisurely stroll.  So it changed into being healthy enough to run it. Or realistically Jiff it. Then it grew into run an obstacle race and do the obstacles, but lets face it, that fear of highs should have squashed that idea at the start.

So the week I started this venture. February 2018 I timed my mile at 20.18 solo. This was on a treadmill, run/walking, huffing, puffing and wanting to die. My plan was to train and work on getting myself up to a better speed.  Well life got in the way and the week before the race I'm sitting at a slow 17.22-18.45.

So this goal is changing again.  On Saturday July 7th I did the Wicked Wine Fun Run and my hope is to use that as motivation. Then planned find a race to do in January or February to use as an end goal.  If I stay the same OK and if I improve so what.  In 6 months I haven't gotten worse maybe even a little better.

The Wicked Wine Run was a great despite the heat 98 to 102 degrees. Most was done at a walk, talking with others on the way. It was a 5K with reward at the end followed by a walking 1K where we sampled four different vines. I made friends for the day and stuck with it when I could have found every excuse to duck out early only losing money.  The Vineyard was pretty and the run itself was trail including grass sections of the vineyard itself and along the river.

I hope to someday be confident enough to do these fun 5K's solo more often. Make a show of it and be alright going alone. I meet the best of people who are actually supportive, without pushing you down or dragging you.  I've done some great runs with people and most have been wonderfully supportive. But one too many times finding myself alone at the finish line when I came with friends or being yelled at though I'm hurting.  So here is me from start to finish
