Somethings when an opportunity presents itself, you have to take it, without consideration or discussion. Do it whatever, it is, without worrying about the risk, or what-ifs, or could-be's. Do it. Do it no matter how scared, or uncertain. Even if its something you would never want to do. It could be exactly what you need to change everything. Wynn and Nate went to the mud races in Saratoga and had a great time. Wynn had fun but wanted someone else with her for when Nate is in the car zone. So after a little persuasion I agreed to go to the next race in Rock River. A simple over night trip with friends. I had planned to take photos and get a video which is what Nate wanted. I didn't realize I would be going on one of the runs.
The theme of the weekend seemed to be Darius Rucker's song For the First Time
“When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Yeah, let yourself go, follow that feeling
Maybe something new is what you’re needing
Like a real life, let your hair down, feel alive
When was the last time you did something for the first time?”
The day was freezing with snow falling in nearby parts of the state. We had a window broken out by an accidental rock and there weren't nearly as many people as we thought there would be. That first run, putting on the helmet, riding down the ruts though the mud and of course getting covered without going near the pits. It was a good time. That may be the quote for the whole weekend, Friends, Fun, and Food. I'm really glad I have people like this in my life who get me to try new things and break my comfort zone without pushing me.
The first run of the day.
Nate's winning run at 9.09 seconds.
