An international festival with hundreds of hot air balloons from around the world. A spectacular scene of colors, shapes and designs.
This may be the hardest post I will write because we did so much in such a short amount of time. It also covers so many things. This trip was a road trip with my Not-Best-Friend. The last two years she has been there for me beyond measure and I am only mad we didn’t become closer sooner. She should have gone on the first #30to30Roadtrip but work and personalities made it impossible. This was the first #30to30 item on the list. The decision to take a trip yearly was decided last October after a stressful October Fest. We’d both wanted to visit Albuquerque so the decision was made.
We started out from Cheyenne with a sushi dinner and stop to sleep in Denver. We got up bright and early to get to Albuquerque with enough time to do some things including stopping at our job in Old Town. We finally got to meet all the people we have heard about and heard the voices of for years.
The nights theme was special shapes which included animals, objects and my personal favorite. Vincent with both ears.
Saturday morning came really early with a 3 am wake up to be back out at the location by 5:30. It was cold but so worth it. Seeing dawn patrol and the early morning light up then balloons go up with the sun rise. It was exactly what I hoped it would be and more. We went back to old town and later found our way to the Balloon museum. Which I was so happy to learn is an extension of the Air and Space Museum in Washington. A nap and sea food dinner made it a great end to Albuquerque.
Ever since it was announced a Meow Wolf location would be coming to Denver in 2020 I have wanted to know what the hype is around this place. So we had to go and find out. My knee didn’t survive the dryer and Wynn got to cool off in the ice box but I think I understand why everyone is so excited. This place can’t be decribed. Its an instalation art fun house, meets mystery, mixed with choas. And I will be going back with a plan to spend the day.
