THE ORLANDO PROJECT
Along with forensic artists and artists from around the country and world, this is a project that we present to the city of Orlando, as a gift after the events that occurred in the Pulse night club June 12, 2016.
As artists, we speak with materials such as graphite, charcoal and in this case paint on tile. We, the artists, came together and instantly collaborated on an idea that would allow us each to show our support for your city, the LGBT community and America. We worked from home, communicating through social media, with constructive criticism and support for one another. We did this with love.
Our project is known to us as the ORLANDO project and when pieced together, just like our hearts, our collaborative art piece will stand approximately 8 ft. by 6 ft. and be seen from afar as the Pride Flag but up close each tile, of each stripe, will represent a victim. . Each 10x14 tile represents a portrait of a brother, a sister, a son or daughter, a lover, a friend, a victim.
Participating artists include Noelle Johnson, Duncan Way.
